Hawaii USA: Rimpac 2022 Officially Closed, Indonesian Navy Successfully Carry out All Training Activities 

HAWAI UNITED STATES - The Navy (TNI AL) has successfully completed the summit of the 2022 Rim of the Pacific (Latma Rimpac) Joint Exercise which officially closed on Thursday (04/08/2022) in Hawaii, United States (US). 

The closing ceremony was held at the Ford Island Conference Center led by Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet Vice Admiral Michael Boyle. At the event, a closing brief was also delivered by the exercise leaders and task force commanders from all participating countries of the 2022 Rimpac Training Center. The completion of the exercise was marked by the return of KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332 and elements of other warships from the sea phase exercise to Pearl Harbor Base on Tuesday (02/08).

The sea phase exercise lasted for 21 days in the Pacific and Southern California waters involving all the combat elements of the participating countries. During that time, KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332 and warships from other countries did not return to base. The need for supplies is carried out at sea using the replenishment at sea (RAS) method. This is one of Latma Rimpac's goals to train trainees to carry out long-term marine operations.

In the sea phase exercise, the Latma Rimpac 2022 Task Force, commanded by Marine Colonel (P) Lewis N. Nainggolan, successfully carried out exercises including Miscellaneous Exercise (Miscex), Combined Anti-Submarine Exercise (Casex), Rasex, Raidex, Surface Warfare Exercise (Surfex), Gunnery Exercise (Gunex), Maritime Interception Operation (MIO), Msoex, War at Sea Exercise (Wasex), Theater Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise (Taswex), Live Fire, Photo Exercise (Photoex), RAS, and Free Play.

During the exercise, KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332 several times had the honor of leading the operation by becoming a Task Unit Commander (CTU), Search and Attack Unit Commander (SAUC) and Air Control Unit (ACU) which controlled the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA). ) on Taswex practice. As well as being a Surface Action Group Commander (SAGC), leading SAG elements in carrying out attacks against ship and air threats during the Wasex exercise. 

Meanwhile, the Task Force (UT) of the Marines carried out security for the Landing Zone Dove Sector A amphibious attack exercise at Pyramid Rock beach, Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) on Monday (01/08), which was the culmination of the implementation of Latma Rimpac 2022. The UT Marine attack scheme was carried out using the MV 22 Osprey helicopter flown from the USS Essex.

During Latma Rimpac 2022, UT Marines commanded by Major Mar Achmad Toripin also successfully carried out exercises including Amphibious Attack, City Battle, Squad/Platoon Attack, Small Boat Operation, Air Assault, and Jungle Operation.

The Commander of the Task Force (Dansatgas) Latma Rimpac 2022 said that this exercise was an extraordinary opportunity for the Task Force, both KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332 personnel and Marine personnel, to learn about large-scale multinational operations such as Rimpac.

Dansatgas also hopes that the Indonesian Navy, which has participated in the Rimpac Latma since 2008, will continue to participate in these training activities in the future to further improve its capabilities. While at the closing brief, Dansatgas conveyed some of the Task Force's successes including three exercise control (excon) officers having carried out their duties, successfully carrying out all activities without any personnel or material losses, carrying out their duties as CTU, ACU, ADC, SAUC, and SAGC with other participating countries. , exercise control over unmanned assets, and train multinational rules of engagement. 

On that occasion Dandatgas also said that: all the objectives of participating in the exercise have been achieved, namely remote assignment, interoperability in complex multinational operations, and strengthening friendships and partnerships with other participating Countries.

The success of the Latma Rimpac 2022 Task Force in completing a series of exercises proves that the Indonesian Navy has the ability to carry out long-term marine operations with its weapons capabilities that have been tested in the largest naval exercise in the world, Rimpac 2022. This success also proves that the Indonesian Navy can carry out its diplomatic role well . 

The involvement of the Navy in Latma Rimpac is one of the programs between the Navy and the US. The Navy in order to increase professionalism, strengthen cooperative relations and externally has the aim of increasing the role of the Navy's diplomacy in accordance with the direction of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono. 

A total of 26 countries, 38 warships, 4 submarines, more than 170 fighter aircraft and 25, 000 personnel from various countries participated in the 2022 RIMPAC Latma which was held from June 29 to August 4, 2022 in the Hawaiian islands.
